Final 11.8.2018

1st Grade

For the first time in the clubs history we have three teams in then grand final, with firsts the last to qualify for the big dance with a thrilling 27-25 win over Forest at Woollhara Oval.George crossed early after what was a solid start, but as the game wore on it looked like it was going to be a real battle, and thats just how it panned out,two tries to the opposition, and two more Krolly penalties had us up 11-10 at the break.Forest started the second spell with converted try to go to a 17-11 lead and the momentum was with them, but the Blueys  didnt lie down,Joel smashed his way over under the posts, and at 18-17 it was game on,with both sides going for it,with a bit of fire and brimstone added. It was end to end stuff, but the questionable discipline of the opposition was their undoing as Krolly made them pay dearly for every mistake they made, and then the courage of this side came to the fore, and in those last couple of nail biting moments, every man in blue put their body on the line and hung on for a memorable win.Speaking of bodies on the line,Graham Kondeck was sensational, his ability and go forward inspiring the likes of Leigh,Pai,Steve Frias to excel, and of course Krolly put on the usual master class. However all was not great, ball control in the forwards was not at its best, and against St Pats the pack is going to have to lift a rung or two,but the personal and class is there,if they play to their potential and ability,a victory lap around Concord Oval is theirs.
