Beecroft 5.8.2017

The Blueys broke a very lean run of four straight losses to travel to Headon Park and outclass last placed Beecroft 35-15 in a result which ensured them a semi final spot.Mountains were always in control, and while their were plenty of positive performances on the day, once again Joel Togo was in awesome touch, just how good he was can be seen in that he took out the triple crown, team best and fairest, players player, and yet another three points from the man in the middle,a class act all day, while it was welcome back to the top grade for Roy,and usual Daniel Farrugia was sensational. The team now heads into back to lappo day with added confidence, especially if the rumours are correct with George and Nicko scheduled to make their returns on the clubs biggest day of the year.

Seconds took a heart breaking hit when edged out by the competition leaders 22-19,the Blueys tried hard but now find themselves in a do or die battle against Forest to ensure a semi spot.Mature Rugby players stood out on the day, with Ash Livingston turning back the clock with a punishing display, while Paul Danby showed no signs of his injury sustained in the gym during the week to lead the Blueys pack by example.

Colts got the result they were after with a bonus point 26-0 win.It wasnt pretty at times, lots of scrappy play and mistakes, but when they put their mind to it,the Blueys had too much class and ability for the home side.Speaking of class and abiity, that was the Liam Fran story on the day,he was sensational all day,not to mention his efforts well into the night at Leonay Sports!..no doubt his game will be crucial to the teams chances of a victory Saturday.

Mixed emotions for thirds, they did their job by causing the upset against the home team with a 19-12 win,but a surprise result elsewhere meant their semi final aspirations are now gone for the year. However, their was still plenty of positives,Afro was a worthy winner of man of the match honours, while the white hot form of Kiwi was sensational, seconds are certainly going to have a great source of back ups for their semi final challenge with players like these two ,and a couple of others in the picture.

Fourths like thirds saw their semi final hopes go down the gurgler when they were edged out 10-7.Adam New scored the try in a close game, but the home side snuck home with a penalty goal difference. In what was a busy day for Afro, his first game saw him play a commanding role in the forward pack, whilst Jordan Ingelton shone in the backline, while the silky smooth talents of Brendan Bull were on display for all to see.

So back to Lappo day saturday sees seconds and colts playing for their survival in the semi finals..will be a great day on and off the field.
